There's a trick that some people do on ebay. You find an item on amazon, and then list it on ebay for a higher price. If anyone doesn't check prices and buys from ebay, then you buy the item from amazon and have it sent to the buyer.

It seems that someone is doing this on ebay, with some Harley Benton products. Mainly guitars, but here are two basses that look suspiciously familiar:

vs: http://www.ebay.co.u...K-/390877152305

And:

vs:

There are guitars that are probably Harley Bentons as well. The seller appears to be using the Thomann photos. Not only are the BIN prices quite a bit higher than Thomann's, but the ebay seller is charging more for the postage than Thomann charges (AFAIK).

Looking at their feedback, they haven't sold many. But every one they sell is pure profit unless buyers start returning under the DSRs.

People have been doing this sort of thing for years and not just with Amazon. There are sellers that list thousands of items at higher prices than can be found elsewhere then they source the item once someone buys it.

It works better when it's spelt right: http://www.yeshuamusic.co.uk/

Where it says that they sell HB instruments.

So It do! I notice they put 'HB' instead of Harley Benton so that people don't try and do their own price matching!

After paypal and ebay take their cut, they can only be making £20 on that bass. What's the point?! Especially if someone claims it hasn't turned up and gets the item and their money back. Surely not worth the hassle or risk for the sake of such small amounts?

That is what a lot of people do and some people don't think of their business model.
My wife runs an online shop and since she was doing it and since starting 10 years ago there has been a lot of competition come and go in the market she is, she survives by word of mouth and referals. A new competitor has started, who is selling a lot of the products a lot lower, down to the price of some of the items is about 10p more than she buys them for. We are assuming she hasn't done proper accounts on the costs of paypal etc!

£20 can be worth having if enough people buy. They may be running a number of virtual businesses

Thomann will, I assume, send the instrument by signed for delivery. If the ebay seller can supply a tracking number that shows delivery, then that seller will win an item not received case.
