Nice japanese P just around the corner from me.... if I wasn't trying to downsize a bit I'd be picking it up on my way home tonight.

Seems like the Serial number is a digit short. E and five numbers instead of six...

I had this with a US jazz once where it was a serial number destined for the export market to exclude it from the Fender US warranty.. I'm assuming this is something similar.

The serial to me looks like E856566 or E856666, either way it's a six digit number after the E which Fender says means 1984-1987 http://www.fender.com/support/articles/japanese-instruments-product-dating/

Blimey, that was quick work, "voom! Like a rat out of an aquaduct!" as Brian's mother once said

Well it all sort of fell into place really...

Just sold one of my jazzes,
Been looking to add a P bass,
Good price,
The bloke lives on my way home from work.

Job done and tomorrow is a NBD :)
