Happy Jack Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) For various reasons I now need to sell a few basses. This is a concept that I am struggling with, since normally I am buying rather than selling, and of course I don’t really want to sell anything at all. Hmmmm. How to decide what goes and what stays? Easy. Ask the market. I’m listing eight basses, none of which I actually want to sell. Whatever goes first will go, and once I have raised the necessary dosh I will de-list the rest. At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, I’m trying to raise money rather than trade basses. I’m also well aware that money’s too tight to mention (damn! I mentioned it) so I won’t be offended by offers. The basses are available to try and/or collect at my studio in Acton W3. I have no problem with posting them, but I always think it makes far more sense (along with being far more sociable) to come and try before you buy. **************************** STATUS Streamline 5 (2012) Small, light, phenomenally strong.100% carbon fibre, single-piece moulding. 34” scale. Fitted with Status P/J pickups (not a soapbar). 18v preamp with bypass switch. Wrap-around LED fret-markers run on separate 9V battery. Satin finish to neck, tinted carbon-fibre throughout. This bass is a real head-turner and (apparently) a total slap monster (I wouldn’t know). Weighs less than 8lbs. £2500 http://s1128.photobu...02011%20CURRENT Edited August 27, 2014 by Happy Jack
dr.harry Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 (Painful whimpering) This isn't absolutely completely exactly the bass I will be ordering off Rob when funds allow. But close enough to make me a jibbering wreck. Love the satin neck. What colour are the LEDs, please? (I don't think I missed a picture with them turned on.) Isn't the neck pickup a Status 'Musicman-style' humbucker rather than a 'P'? (Pedantic? Me? Never. Well, nearly never. Well, only 87.3% of the time.) And, finally, what on earth are you keeping to make getting rid of this not completely crazy? GLWTS Not that you'll need it. These don't sit on the shelf long, even in this market.
Happy Jack Posted July 8, 2014 Author Posted July 8, 2014 The LEDs are red (of course) to match the red tint to the carbon fibre. The apparent soapbar is very misleading. At the time, I was mainly gigging my Status PJ4 (also currently listed) which had exactly what I wanted by way of pickups, so I persuaded Rob Green to build me a Streamline with - as near as possible - the same pickup configuration. I can't say that he was too enthusiastic, but he did it. He had to work within the confines of the existing mould though, and that meant that he put a split humbucker inside a soapbar cover.
Merton Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Sorry to hear of your financial woes, hope it passes quickly for you and this manages to stay in your collection, glorious bass

BassBus Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 That serial number would make the bass March 2011.
Happy Jack Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 You're absolutely right - I ordered this while recovering from my broken leg, and I forgot which year that happened! Now edited.
