Grassie Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) Found this earlier, what a tight player. Always loved his playing and tone, great melodic lines and sense of space. If I could be half as inventive as him I'd be happy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8yrUo3wliw Edited July 9, 2014 by Grassie Quote

It's more reliable than 'Copy-Paste'-ing the URL. Just sayin'; hope this helps... Edited July 9, 2014 by Dad3353 Quote
Grassie Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Yep, that's the one, thanks for putting that up. I think it's my laptop stopping me from pasting links. As you were... Quote
Funky Dunky Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 A favourite player of mine for the very same reasons you listed above. His lines are never boring; he always takes the bass for a wee stroll and chooses the most ear-catching notes. I kinda suspect he has bass talents far greater than what we hear him do with the 'Pilots, too. The Talk Show album was worth a listen....I wasn't mad keen on Dave Coutts' vocals but there are some decent tunes on there. Quote
thisnameistaken Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I used to know their sister, she would always be trying to get me drunk. True story. Quote
Damonjames Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Agree totally, the guy is just amazing. I am very fortunate in that I get to play a few of his tracks (hopefully a full set soon) in my current band, he is by far the most "groovy" bass players in rock. Although he says he stole all his stuff from jamerson, I still think he is awesome. Quote

Merton Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Love his playing. Very Jamerson and JPJ influenced according to his interviews and it shows ina very, very good way. If I had a tenth of his talent I'd be a happy man. Quote
sblueplanet Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 One of my all-time fav bassplayers. So melodic but centred. Quote
Grassie Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 For any recent converts check out Interstate Love Song, Atlanta, Ride The Cliché and Art School Girl. Impeccable. Quote
Damonjames Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Interstate is in our set, and I LOVE playing it! Plush is another fave of mine. Quote
