police squad
Has anyone used this company for any builds that they have done. Any feedback would be appreciated www.eyguitarmusic.com They sell a maple boarded Fretless P bass neck. And it's cheap so might just take the plunge anyway cheers
Beer of the Bass
I've had some parts from them for a guitar project, though it was only hardware not a neck. They were fine to deal with, the parts arrived quite quickly, were well packed and marked "gift" to avoid import duty. If you're wary of dealing with a company in Hong Kong, these guys also do maple board fretless necks and the price is not much higher than EY. http://www.customwor...ts.com/default/ I've no experience with them but they look good in the photos! BassTractor
http://www.customwor...ts.com/default/ I've no experience with them
Hamfist just mentioned their necks the other day, and he rated them higher than Mighty Mites. Me, I've ordered a pickguard from them, and it was perfec, as was the packaging etc.
police squad
the thing with custom world guitar parts is the dots are in the wrong place on the side.
hollywoodrox
Wow just checked these two sites out, excellent, would be interested to hear of anyone else usin the hong kong one
gafbass02
I have a couple of custom world gp necks. The fretless one is amazing, easily on par with mighty mite. Apart from the dots being positioned for a fretted neck. As it happens this is my preference though, so no big. The fretted one 'would' be on par with mighty mite if there wasn't quite so much dark coloured filler around the blocks, which lets down an otherwise outstanding neck. police squad
My order has been shipped. It's quite exciting. I'll have to start sourcing the rest of the parts.I've got the original bridge from my '75 P bass and some 70's P bass pickups that need a rewind. And I'll need a 70's logo for the headstock
hollywoodrox
I'm excited and I've not bought anything, they are so cheap though I am considering a couple of things for the future
police squad
Fretless neck has turned up. It's very good. Lovely grain and a great finish. Dots are in the wrong place but that can be sorted. Here's a picture so far. It's a Bravewood body
gafbass02
I swapped mine out for fretted last night, very pleased as well :-) although getting the bushings in both necks has been a bit traumatic!!

gafbass02
Good point on tuners, wilkinson regular elephant eats won't fit. I used these, but still had to use the wilkinson bushings as they were slightly smaller. Nut needed a lot of filing too. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140642921579 My results fretted And fretless Edited July 19, 2014 by gafbass02
police squad
why won't regular Wilkinson tuners fit?
gafbass02
The base plates are too large, it's like tuner holes are a couple of mm closer together than standard.
police squad
Got some gotohs with a smaller plate. and a US fender pickup and a 70s logo. Just going to send it to my friend to put together.
dmckee
Can I just ask - is it the case that the dots are in the wrong place (ie where they be on a fretted neck) for both the EY fretless neck AND the Custom World one? The EY seems to have disappeared too, unfortunately. Anyone know of a fretless neck that has the dots in the right place? Cheers, Dave. police squad
yes the dots are in the fretted position. Otherwise the neck feels very good EY site is still there Edited August 16, 2014 by police squad
