kodiakblair Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Guy whose local was selling one of those Wesley acrylic 5'ers in purple. Thought I'd pick it up just for a bit of window dressing. Got a shock not only at the weight of it but at the clear tone it has. Can't really see me using it too much though. He also had a Kramer thru neck 5'er that must have the widest neck I've seen, it was up for grabs too but I never got a chance to play it. The Squier jazz and Hagstrom Beluga II he also had were more interesting. Quote
hamfist Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Wesely are a bit under-rated for low end guitars. I still miss a Wesley Jag-style bass I had a few years ago. Played beautifully. It just needed a preamp for it's 2 x MM pickup setup. At the time I was not confident enough to do such a thing, so I sold it. Quote
kodiakblair Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 Had another play on it last night, 1st impressions were right it's a great sounding bass. The low B carries well and I've had re-think about the weight. When I started work cement bags weighed 112lbs and my tool belt still comes in at 25/30lbs so what am I doing saying " it's heavy" . Man up K.B Quote
Annoying Twit Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Wesley had a number of interesting instruments. The had a bass that looked a bit like an iconic bass made by a well known litigious USA bass company once, but they stopped selling them. I've seen the plexiglass basses, but never played one. Quote
alyctes Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I don't like the colour, but I guess refins are possible Quote
throwoff Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 One of these got passed around the forum a few years back, I think it was WPD's The general consensus was it weighs far too much than it needs to! Quote
