PlungerModerno
That's real cute. With 12 strings to work with, as well as a good setup, a neck that'll play very comfortably is a must!
blablas
Leveled the heel of the neck and roughly sawed it to thickness. Routed the neck pocket. The first time the two parts meet. Edited August 6, 2017 by blablas
Andyjr1515
It's become a bit of a cliche, but this is what 'truly awesome' really means Don't think I've ever seen anything like it...

blablas
Today I've been busy with doing my favourite thing, volute shaping. Almost halfway. And (rough) finished. PlungerModerno
Looking very nice - when it's carved & shaped it's always inclined to show off and exaggerate any flaws in the wood or gaps in the glue - from those pics it looks very clean and solid. blablas
It is clean and solid. Before gluing I properly squared and leveled all the surfaces that were going to be glued, I glued them together with the right amount of clamping (read: Lots of clamps ). It might be more work to do all this preparing of the separate parts but when you do it this way you get a much better end-result. PlungerModerno
Agreed - it's no accident it's turned out as neat and consistent as it has. Careful preparation, suitable materials, and proper technique is the only way to stack the odds in the builders favour. If it's thrown together it may work - but most of the time it'll look thrown together.

PlungerModerno
12 string... I'd rather be safe than sorry.
+1 with the neck/body joint as it is (very ergonomic judging by the photos) there is not enough room for a traditional 3,4 or more bolt joint. Good thing this was planned in advance - the single cut body shape lends itself to extra securing bolts along it's extended upper horn (not really a horn, but you get what I'm talking about I think). You can't be too careful with a neck joint. It's never too stable or durable. I'd imagine in this case the joint will be up to the job & then some. Wolverinebass
As a 12 string player, this is genius. It's worth noting that I can't stand single cuts, but this bass defies that rule. Top quality work squire!
I couldn't agree more - this single cut has a seriously graceful look about it, when looked at as it is or like I do with lefty's - checked out after being flipped. Here's a sample - Hope blablas doesn't mind me inverting his work in progress!
