Holy Mother of God Rick, I didn't know you had a real one! :o Which is it??

Here it is, the pics were taking when i first opened it, and it needed a good clean, its one of the few 100% stock examples still known to exist, many have been modded or refin'd. Very special bass indeed.

Wow, that is really something. Perhaps I could make the trip oop north and see it in the flesh sometime?
Absolutely fantastic, a real piece of Fender history... like your rug. ;)

Always welcome Mark, although despite its name, I've never heard it called oop north!! :) . (The rug is cool...it works in the Bass Place!)

Fantastic, thanks very much. :) Well it's not really oop north, but it's oop north from where I am (dahn sarf). ;)

Some years ago I borrowed Mr. Bass Doc's 66 slab to record an album (Angelic Upstarts "Let's Make A Bomb") and it DID sound totally different to a regular 66 P Bass. Much more raunchy and lively. I'd wager that ash body/slab maple board combination is the key. I'd buy that bass if I knew where it was today. Those slab board Telecasters (guitars) from 66 are pretty pokey, too.
