WILD FROG SHOT Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I reckon the Vintage Blonde with a maple fretboard that Bubinga5 recommended in first reply. The blue and black also look good though. Quote

The Funk Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008
Personally, I´d go for Transparent Walnut with a black pickguard and a maple fingerboard with pearl blocks. Yummy.
Yes! Or even a rosewood board with pearl blocks. Quote
thebeat Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 The red one with the matched headstock looks cool...but so does the black...don't like the ice blue one...looks too modern...chrome overdose!!! Quote
dmz Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Inca silver would be a nice option - alder body with perhaps with an ebony fingerboard.......supersparkle if you want to be a tart.......... I just took delivery of a new Modern 24 5-string (Metro) - black/maple fingerboard with VTC - plays like a dream and you can get usable tones in every possible position of the bass/treble and VTC controls - I especially like the way you can dial in a nice traditional sound with the VTC and with a turn of the knob go to funk monster ! Good luck in your hunt I fancy a fretless Modern 24 5-er now - unlined maple fingerboard if poss - sunburst..........ah, one day.............. Quote
Fran I'm curious - are the twins 'ultra' vintage I note the necks have a curved heel. On my (non-ultra) vintage the neck (maple) is the same as the bass pictured with the girl. Did they change neck profiles at some point or did you request that shape? BTW - I prefer tortoise shell pickguard to the black :-) cheers Ian Quote

You can set it up beautifully. It was a lovely example of a Sadowsky. Steve Quote
aceuggy Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Ice blue for me, but I'm not so keen on the matching headstock. Quote

On NYC basses you can order the standard 21 fret, 'square' fingerboard or the 20 fret 'round' one like mine. I like the round looks better for 4 string, vintage style Sadowskys. Quote

OutToPlayJazz Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I really like that spalted maple/walnut one (?) of Mark Latimour's, especially with the Norstrand pickups Are the Norstrands very different to the stock Sadowskys, Mark? Quote
