New bass advice

Hi there,

On the fretted side of my basses I currently use a modded Squier VM Jazz and a Yamaha TRB1006. I'm looking to cut this down to one bass that sort of combines elements of the two as I cant really ever justify taking both to gigs but I always want to use both.
So basically, a 5 string, active but with a passive switch, two pickups are a must and all that sort of stuff.
Looking at the price range of around £700-£1000 and ideally looking for second hand. Been looking at your typical active 5 string USA Jazz and also Lakland 5 string jazzes, also the higher end ibanez SR basses.
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for basses that fit these parameters that I may have overlooked.

Cheers

Cort A5? It's very likely Cort will have put together your Squier VM Jazz. The A5 has a through neck, 2 pickups, 3 band EQ with an EQ defeat switch (but this won't have anything like a passive tone control, it'll just be the unadulterated signal from the pickups). Like this one http://www.promenade....uk/cort-a5-opn

EDIT: Just seen the G&L Tribute L-2500 that looks like it has all the options you need http://www.glguitars.com/instruments/TributeSeries/basses/L-2500_new/

Cheers,
Used to have a Cort A6, really well made bass and played great, I just didnt really get on with any of the electronics though. And certainly been looking at G&L stuff too, although not a massive fan of MM style humbuckers

After a bit more shopping around i've come across the ACG Graft J type 5 strings, not active but i'd certainly be willing to forgive for one of those. Wonder if anyone has any experience with these?

Hi
The Graft J Type can have an East 2 band active EQ added or an ACG SEQ dual filter pre-amp added but once active they don't have a passive option.. These are both options above the standard passive setup all the details can be found on my website.
