wateroftyne Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Hi all Dan Lakin has just put his new website live. Even if - like me - you have no real interest in the basses, the 'history' pages are an interesting - and occasionally refreshingly honest - read. Some of the typos raise a smile, too. Worth a look. http://dlakinbasses.com/ Quote
JimBobTTD Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I second that the history pages are a good read. Not so much on a phone, though, as all the photos are clipped! Quote
warwickhunt Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 At a glance they don't look like bad prices but unsure as to where the country of origin will be (unless I missed it on his site). Quote

[/quote] Made in Indonesia, price range £1,100 - £1,250. We were going to stock them but pulled out to concentrate on a US built brand in the slightly lower price bracket instead. Clarky Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 they look nice to me, especially the traditional colour choices like sea foam green etc. But £1100+ for a Korean made bass? Seems top whack to me and I bet resale prices will be much lower Quote
LeftyJ Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Not a fan of the headstock shape, but otherwise they look nice. I also like the Hipshot hardware, though I feel they should also offer the option of a vintage bridge for those who don't like big solid Hipshot style A's. Quote
discreet Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 So he's the Lakland guy. Didn't make the connection at first. D'oh! Quote
Ghost_Bass Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Had a read through the history. Good info on Lakland but none on this "new" basses. Not very good marketing IMO. Quote

cocco Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 As a big fan of the Skylines I'm pretty excited about these. Hope they come to the UK and don't cost the earth when they do Quote

Just that the price was only an estimate before but it's definitely confirmed now Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Those headstocks are growing on me. Quote
brensabre79 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Interesting read, although it seems to tail off abruptly at the end. So reading between the lines, it looks like these are basically similar to Lakland Skyline Series. built in Korea, and only sold via this website. It does make me wonder what happened at Lakland, which is the end that's missing from the story I guess. Quote

ebenezer Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 made in the same factory as the lakland skylines I reckon, and if so none the worse for it...good spec, graphite reinforced neck a big plus!..good hardware and I quite like the headstock!nicer than my Ibanez atk! Quote
lojo Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I've not read everything but are they going to do any 5s? Quote
