joeystrange
I reckon I need to change the strings on my acoustic bass. Is there any reason I couldn't put electric strings on it?
casapete
You can, but will probably sound less 'acousticy' than bronzewounds. (Also may not respond so well with piezo pickups as bronzes?) I have a Washburn EA20 and usually use Elites acoustic strings and they are fine. Having said that, Strings Direct are offering free postage on orders till 31st August, and have Fender Phosphor Bronze sets in at £13.99 so may be tempted to try some. [/quote] I've a set of those on my Tanglewood acoustic. Have to say, I'm a bit disappointed with 'em. Sounded OK new, but went off and just made a dull thud very quickly. Wondering what to try next...
James Nada
Try a set of flatwounds. Not really 'acousticy' sounding but definielty more 'double bassy'.
Muzz
Yep, I've got D'addario flats on my acoustic (and I don't have them on anything else) - very nice and smooth. I hated phosphor bronze strings...
joeystrange
I've got some flats lying around. Maybe I'll give those a try. Thanks for the idea.
Telebass
Cut-down TI Jazz Flats on the Alien, Fender 9050s (?) 55-105 on the Kingman.
miles'tone
I've had a set of Ernie Ball Super Slinkys on my acoustic for 7 years (same set that is) and they sound fantastic new or old, also they work fine with the piezo.
