Horizontalste
I have a pair of IEM's I use for running, they're not expensive ones and the jack has a dodgy connection and keeps cutting out the right one. Anyone know how difficult they are to fix? There's three wires inside, I know this because I chopped the plug. Any advice gratefully received. gelfin
It may be the socket on whatever player you are using, so chopping the plug could have been a bad move. also possible that the bad connection is at the earpieces. Put a new plug on and see how it goes. If you can solder small fine wires.
Horizontalste
It was definitely the plug, I tested it with different player's & when I moved the cable is when the cut out occurred. I'm not too handy with a soldering iron so I'm going to see if I can find someone local to have a go. I only bought them in Feb, shame to chuck them away. Matt P
you'll need to find someone who's very skilled with a soldering iron, the wires in the cables that i've dealt with have been hair fine and enamel coated so they're a pain to solder. but it is possible, go for a good quality replacement plug, i'm a fan of the Neutrik ones (the right angled 3.5mm stereo is my favorite as it has good cable strain relief and is solidly made. Horizontalste
Cheers Matt, I'm currently trying to find someone to do it. The two I've spoken to won't touch it :-/
Matt P
I thought that might be the case, what iem are they? Matt
Horizontalste
They are made by Octone, cheapies from Amazon. They fit my ears really well though and that's why I'd like to get them fixed.
Horizontalste
I gave up, couldn't find anyone prepared to try. Bought some Meelectronic M6's instead, hope they are decent.
thefyst
burn the enamel off with a lighter and solder as per usual. the wires are probably a bit more fiddly than most are used to but its not difficult.
