Doc B Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 I'm a big fan of Peter Hook's bass playing and would really like to get a 6 string that would allow me to get close to the sound of his Shergold and play chords easily. As far as I can see the Shergold 6ers are as rare as rocking horse sh!t So I'm wondering if any one can suggest an affordable alternative? I had a Danelectro baritone that I had modified to be strung E-E but it was too 'twangy' for what I wanted and lacked sustain. Quote
metalmickey Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 In my experience, there's nothing around like a Shergold 6er - even the fender 6s just didn't sound the same - there was one that I wanted in one of the origional shops I hung out in as a teen bum ('94, they were a veritable treasure trove of Jap copies of rickers and the like AND had a Shergold Double Neck GuitBass, rare as f***), but even then it was too expensive for my tender teen pockets. Maybe a p.m. to Captain Japcrap might be in order - he may be able to suggest something eastern that may get the job done  Good luck!!!! Quote
