To me, the tort pickguard looks amazing with the rosewood fingerboard, but not so much with the maple.

Think the tort needs to be subtle if the colour is subtle and slightly faded, but for a newer brighter finish the tort needs to "pop" I'd even say be more red/orange than brown

Here's mine with a BassDoc tort guard

Not entirely sure it's Lake Placid though...I have always thought it looked a bit darker than LP. It's a 2000 American Standard.

Great colour and guard combo though, I love it.

Sorry! Now you know how I feel. It appears that they are like hens teeth to get hold of over here, and there's precious few of them in Japan either. If I had the resources to go and get one, I think I would have Limelight, or someone similar, put one together instead.
