JJW
I love these basses, does anyone on here have one? http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575090229&toolid=10001&campid=5337531593&customid=&icep_item=141354846729&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229508&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg
Beedster
Yes, but I'd want one of these for the era we play http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AMAZING-Custom-Hand-Painted-Rickenbacker-4003-Electric-Bass-Guitar-4001-/111421475532?pt=Guitar&hash=item19f13ccacc (of course, we all know that various members of the Beatles played various basses on various tracks and albums, but you get my meaning)! rushbo
These are great basses. Mine is the "Icon" model. I picked it up from Thomann with a hard case for £250 ish (I think) and I love it to bits. A few inexpensive mods (teacup knobs, fake binding on the headstock, brasso off the logo on the trussrod covers, switch the pups around) and you've got an authentic looking and beautifully thumpy instrument. Whack a bit of foam up by the bridge and Bob is your mothers brother. They're also really light and if you have delicate, girlish hands, dead easy to get around. JJW
I know they did use lots of different basses but that Hofner one is probably the most famous and yes they are great basses to play, I don't personally own one YET but I play my friend very often. This is the right handed version: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575090229&toolid=10001&campid=5337531593&customid=&icep_item=281395590062&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229508&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg
tauzero
Dreadful things. I passed on one because it was so horrible to play. Of course, I didn't realise that there would be a huge rise in the value of old crap that a Beatle had played.
Annoying Twit
The only 'Beatle bass' I've actually tried is an Epiphone viola bass. I was surprised at how disappointed I was. Didn't like the feel at all. A good setup may have made the difference.
