cocco
Pretty much the only thing a 40 can't sound like is a split coil P.

ash
It's shame you're not a bit closer so I could try it (for weight) Si
It's interesting, the weight isn't an issue on my back when using a good wide strap, I've certainly owned heavier basses and my Rick 3001 is about the same. Unfortunately the way the weight is distributed and how the bass sits on the strap seems to really irritate a long term nerve injury around my shoulder and collar bone region. If it wasn't for this I'd certainly be able to cope with it and I'm quite small framed. The balance is perfect so I guess it's more of a personal comfort thing, there are slab body basses I can't play because of the way the upper bout digs into my forearm as a result I've owned super light basses that have caused more pain on my wrist and shoulder than the heaviest of 70s Precisions!
