Here are my pals:
- Custom made Duke with guts, Ben Bastin wooden end pin, Blast Cult bridge and pickup
- Chadwick Folding bass for touring, currently wearing Gut-a-like deluxe, which are very reliable for festival outdoor gigs. Pickup of this one is a Rev Solo.
PLus toy hoover, toy kitchen and toy pram (Mr Tumble DVD just out of shot Burrito, I feel your pain bro)

I've got Bakers but I lust after hatpegs. Same way as I've got my wife but....................oh, never mind.

:-) I know what you mean....Bakers do look awesome though.

Blimey that is a massive bargain if it plays and sounds good?!
[/quote]
Well that was the Jersey ( no VAT ) price , and I don't feel qualified to judge how well it plays or sounds . I have never played another and standing next to it is the worst place to hear it !
The only DB players I have known (from 30 years ago when I quit the music business) are all dead now !

Hard work , but I love it .

And now , back to the thread......

Having been in my possession for a couple of months, and now nicely setup by Martyn Bailey...here's my carved Shen SB200 maple (not willow). Strung with Evah Weichs which seem a good all round string so far.

Thats a beaut, Jas. Fantastic looking bass and I bet after MB's work it plays stunningly well. Maybe try one of Ben Bastin's wooden endpins? I have one (a few other BCers too) and I think it does improve the tone vs a metal endpin, plus it means the bass is always at the right height

I've been wanting to do that but am still trying to iron out some aspects of my technique and have been lengthening the end pin more. Once I get settled maybe I'll go for it

These lovely basses are making me even more attached to my poor, battered old czech workhorse. Like you love a scruffy old mongrel, 'cos it's scruffy and old. :)

A pleasure to see these though. Works of art, really.

Here's my cheapo hybrid that does the job nicely. The colour is horrid and I don't like the upper bout shape but it's all I have :) I'm saving for a Duke Peacemaker B)

Some lovely basses on here :)

Actually TPJ
Your "cheapo hybrid" looks fine
It's a rather nice, fetching red
and something a bit different IMO

End of 19C Saxony bass. New 5 string neck. I have some naked pics of it somewhere that I will dig out. It polished up lovely with chrome polish and a buffer on my electric drill.

Here's my recently acquired Eastern European 3/4 size DB currently strung with Thomastik Spiro Weichs and having just been set up by Edward Gaut of Bristol. Edward fitted a new sound post ( original was rubbish), reshaped the bridge and set the action (currently 7.5mm, 7mm, 6.5mm, 6mm). Fortunately the fingerboard didn't need any work.

It's semi-solid with flame maple sides and back. I also went for the antique finish as I prefer it to the gloss finish that was available :)

I've got a Realist incoming and our very own Clarky has lent me a gut D and G string to see how I get on with the lower tension.

PS Please excuse the state of the carpet and don't tell my wife I took photos without running the Dyson round first!
