HowieBass
Just spotted this on YouTube - great for those of us brought up on Queen and Brian's distinctive style. http://youtu.be/jJ_OamX-PA8
jezzaboy
Good video that. Him and his guitar tech seem like right decent guys.

bluesparky
I've dropped that guitar! (Red Special) I caught it though (phew) apparently the strap often falls off with Pete adding "ah, yeah, it does that" after he caught the look of horror on my face! thodrik
I like the complete absence of any 'secrets' in that. A really good watch.
lefrash
I love these rig rundown videos and this is one of my favourtes. Its really cool to see the guitar in detail too.

flyfisher
I love it that while so many people spend a small fortune searching for their dream instrument or sound, he just built his own guitar and created something to call his own. Absolutely brilliant! I didn't know he used old tanners as picks though and thought it amusing that his tech says they're cheaper to buy than plastic ones! yorks5stringer
Err .....shouldn't we be looking at John Deacon's Rig Rundown? Edited August 4, 2014 by yorks5stringer
Wil
Great watch. Love Brian May's playing and his sound.
HowieBass
Err .....shouldn't we be looking at John Deacon's Rig Rundown? HowieBass
I didn't know he used old tanners as picks though and thought it amusing that his tech says they're cheaper to buy than plastic ones!
I knew about his use of sixpenny pieces from when Queen first made it big and I always thought the serrated edges would add to his tone, almost a little like a bowing effect (which I believe is what happens with bowed strings and the grab that happens from the bow hair). bertbass
About 6d.
flyfisher
Yeah, but that was when 6d was really worth something and you could buy a house, a new car, a new bass and full rig and still have change to take the missus out to the cinema with a slap-up meal afterwards. Ah, the good old days.
PlungerModerno
Saw it, pressed play, thought it'd have 20 seconds of May - maybe some interesting tech stuff. It's an awesome vid, cool to have May explain the guitar like that, and the tech had great banter for the camera. I was very impressed at quality of this one. Bassman Steve
JD's rig would be great but I want the old Hiwatt into Gauss loaded Sound City cabs and Acoustic 371 rig, not that later Sunn or SWR stuff. Yes, geat vid but (donning anorak as Queen fan from when they started) I could swear there was a red neon light on the scratchplate. It's clearly been refinished as it used to have masking tape holding some of the veneer on but I swear that must be a new scratchplate. Would have liked to know what the refin incorporated.
