Bass Collection basses - what are they like?

First things first is it a proper SGC nanyo Bass Collection or a later p or j bass replica job? If its the former they are the bargain of the century with the best build quality you will find equally matching basses in the £1-2000 range. Really light and comfy, good hardware, nice woods, good preamps. :)

Serious answer is they are like the other 1000 j copies from Encore to Alleva Coppolo, some are amazing for tuppence and some are amazing for £3500, others are awful for £90 and some arent a lot better for thousands more, all you can do is try them out ime.

If it's the Jive Bass then I think it'll be as good as a decent Squier (think Vintage Modified or maybe Classic Vibe) - review here but the embedded video doesn't work http://www.iguitarmag.com/magazine-editions/guitar-interactive-issue-16/reviews/bass-collection-jive-bass/

I think the Bass Collection Jive basses had a good reputation, I have a feeling they were budget bass of the year in the Guitar and Bass magazine the other year, I have not played the newer Bass Collections but have owned a good number of the older Japanese ones they were all cracking basses
