Lorne
Well, it's been sat in my friend's house in New York for about 7 months, and now he has finally sent it to me, not as pointy as my usual fare, and I had to helicoil the lock screw as the wood was gone, but it's all good now So here it is, 1985 Westone Rail bass :-)
stingrayPete1977
It doesn't look 80's at all does it? Oh hang on...sorry if you close your eyes and think of the 80's.... it is exactly that! I shouldn't but I do like it.
FlatEric
Great bit of kit. I had two of these. http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2010/08/on-rails.html Not that common, was VERY expensive, when new and has a lot of tonal variations. Nice one.

alyctes
I've got one which I had from FlatEric (thanks mate ). I don't play it much, but I'll never sell it. What a great design, and what a great sound. Also if you run the pup back to the bridge, either rail is perfectly balanced as a carry handle Edited August 9, 2014 by alyctes
Graham
I saw the photo before the who the OP was immediately assumed it was Big Red X
Lorne
Ha ha ha, yes, not my usual B.C.Rich pointyness of hurt, it does hurt a bit sitting down playing it though, the pick up mount is larger than the bridge or neck mount, so it digs into your legs a bit

I had some fun with them - was going to keep one but decided to let go and one day make a "Tribute" but in 34" scale. One day! As you know, the tonal differences, as you slide along, are quite interesting and varied. Cheers.
theyellowcar
It looks like a dangerous weapon!!!
stingrayPete1977
Its funny how the principle never catches on as a mainstream product? A generic P bass body that comes with a selection of pickguards and pickup combinations could be a big seller, the options of plug and play preamp, pickup (s) and pickguard finish would be endless. Paul S
Just needs a tort pickguard and it would be perfect! Lovely. I've always wondered about these. I have space in my 'collection' for a body-less, head-less bass currently occupied by Hohner B2A. But every time one of these puts its head above the parapet I wonder... Or any of the 80s MIJ ones - Washburn Bantam or, particularly, the Aria Pro II Interceptor.
Lorne
It wasn't something I was actually aiming at owning, the Guy from T-Ride had one, that's all I know, but hey, it was free as was the shipping from the USA, so who am I to say No
