chaypup Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 I always thought it was 34" but I'll have a measure tomorrow. If you PM me with tempting trades I'll likely be swayed
Bassassin Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015
34 1/2" using the nut-12 fret x 2 method.
That's a relief in a way - been GAS-ing for a short/medium scale and a 2xP configuration for a bit. Both in the same bass (vintage Matsumoku through-neck at that!) might've proved irresistable. And I have to resist - I've recently moved to a new place and need to drastically reduce the gear/bass stash. So, someone buy this quick. I only have so much resolve... J.
Eboclive Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Nice Bass. I have the exact same model, but as a fretless. Mine is completely standard, ie jack socket, not XLR. I've had it since 1985., bought it off a friend who was the original owner. It was made in Ferbruary 1983. Yours should be around the same time period. GLWTS.

Kohpnyn Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 (edited) Have you got any recordings of it? Also what's the neck like, is it quite thick? Edited April 2, 2015 by Kohpnyn
alyctes Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015
Reduced to £350!
You might want to edit the thread title
There's a recording here on the Westone but not the best and with full band... https://soundcloud.com/superchangouk/they-call-me-mister-tibbs I never used to think the neck was chunky until I started using an asymmetric neck, and now, by comparison, I do!
Skybone Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 (edited) Having a long think about this one! My old Thunder 1A was a great bass, shouldn't have sold it. Edited May 21, 2015 by Skybone

Skybone Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I blame "Rock School" from the 80's... their bass player used either a Thunder II or III (can't remember which).

chaypup Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Thunder III that was, and the later version with the magnabass pickups.
Funk³ Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 This is absolutely incredible ^.^ I have a Westone Thunder I and I adore their tone. If I was in the market for a four string, I'd buy this for over £500 easily

chaypup Posted June 16, 2015 Author Posted June 16, 2015 Bloody hell I can't believe this is still taking up space in my studio. £325 Then - come on!
