34 1/2" using the nut-12 fret x 2 method.

That's a relief in a way - been GAS-ing for a short/medium scale and a 2xP configuration for a bit. Both in the same bass (vintage Matsumoku through-neck at that!) might've proved irresistable.

And I have to resist - I've recently moved to a new place and need to drastically reduce the gear/bass stash. :(

So, someone buy this quick. I only have so much resolve...

Nice Bass.

I have the exact same model, but as a fretless.
Mine is completely standard, ie jack socket, not XLR.

I've had it since 1985., bought it off a friend who was the original owner.
It was made in Ferbruary 1983.
Yours should be around the same time period.

Thanks - any pics of yours? I've never seen a fretless one!

Have you got any recordings of it?
Also what's the neck like, is it quite thick?

There's a recording here on the Westone but not the best and with full band... https://soundcloud.com/superchangouk/they-call-me-mister-tibbs

I never used to think the neck was chunky until I started using an asymmetric neck, and now, by comparison, I do!

Having a long think about this one!

My old Thunder 1A was a great bass, shouldn't have sold it.

Do it! It's like a Thunder I - but twice as good!

I blame "Rock School" from the 80's... their bass player used either a Thunder II or III (can't remember which).

Henry "King Thumb" Thomas!

Don't know my Thunders well enough to tell from this pic...

Anyway - someone buy Chay's bass, quick.

This is absolutely incredible ^.^

I have a Westone Thunder I and I adore their tone. If I was in the market for a four string, I'd buy this for over £500 easily :D

I'll stick an extra string on somewhere for £500! :)
