steviedee
Anyone know where I can pick up a stingray scratchplate it's for the old truss rod configuration, which I think was pre 90s.
Bolo
Try a local (if any) MM dealership. Bring the serial of your stingray. EB keeps the details of all their basses on stock, so they can manufacture a pickguard to match your bass.
steviedee
Cheers Bolo that's a great idea.
steviedee
Just for info, EB no longer have stock of original style MM scratchplates but their templates are used by pickguard heaven in the US.
steviedee
Crikey just picked up three original MM scratchplates in the UK after ordering two new ones from pickguard heaven. Scratchplate central!
steviedee
I know this makes me very sad and I'm having a conversation with myself but I am genuinely very excited about finding three genuine Musicman scratchplates (old truss rod configuration) that have been languishing on a shelf at the suppliers for 20 years! Foxx
I don't suppose you fancy selling one do you if you have a surplus now? , I've been looking for one myself, no luck so far. I've had to make do with a black later type one, and on a natural bass that truss rod cutout shows up sadly. [/quote] I'm going to keep them but I do have one I got made in the states, which cost a packet! It's not a perfect fit on the neck for my bass unfortunately but it's a decent fit, it looks cool and it's been reliced. Drop me a pm if your interested. steviedee
It's not from pickguard heaven was from another US company.

steviedee
No worries it was just so it looked okay with the age of the bass. I have a lot of scratch plates at the moment!
Foxx
My '82 is looks pretty immaculate until you get up close, theres a couple of small marks, but ive seen newish basses in far worse shape. still pleased as punch I got it. Did the place you got those guards from have any more left do you know?
steviedee
Got the last ones I'm afraid. But pickguard heaven in the states will do them and they are pretty reasonable . Bloke from Ernie Ball recommended them. Great about your bass, natural isn't it. My 77 is definitely not immaculate but it's still in good condition for a bass of that age. stingrayPete1977
Have you got my old baby Foxx? 82 white pickguard sounds like it, old horse murphy in the mix somewhere? That is the best pre EB I have ever played if it is!

I bought it from the gallery couple of months back, it was a commission sale they did for someone, though I don't know who.
stingrayPete1977
I need to start keeping tabs on all these basses, my other one has come back on here now and I have already forgot who has it! I know I will want them all back one day
Foxx
Hehe. I'll never part with either of mine now, I've finally found what for me is as near to bass perfection as it gets.
Old Horse Murphy
I'm certain it's not your one Pete. I sold it to a guy down in Defon/Cornwall. I'm sure it was Daveski, so unless he packed it off to the Gallery he must still have it
