I've had a search and I'm surprised there isn't a Modulus thread here.

I was hoping to check out some other lovely Moduli :gas:

Ash body, mahogany core, spalted maple top, "1000 dancing ladies" graphite neck, John East U-Retro preamp, MEC pick-ups (I think).

:)

Just for you Pete here is my friends new pink FU4 next to my purple FB4...shocking pair indeed

Oh my. I've owned many many (about 8 at last count) Flea basses over the years. But holy cow how much I'd love to own either one of those! Very very nice indeed.

8? That's quite a number! My purple one has an ash body, I'd love to get an alder body one too. Think i would stick at 2!

Do you have any pics to post?

I saw Steve Lawson play two of these basses at a gig on Sunday night, a fretted and fretless and they sounded superb. The only other time I've heard a Modulus bass is when Benny Reitveld was using one back in the early 90's.

I've owned three....it started with a Modulus Sonic Hammer which was an outstanding bass apart from just not suitable for the music I was playing. I then moved onto a pair of Q5 Sweetspots and both had issues - the neck on the fretless was bent and the fretted one was very brittle sounding. I've not really gone back since but have a soft spot for their pink over blue finish. An FB5 in pink over blue would be hard to resist.

The purple sparkly is nice. Gibson should do that finish on a Thunderbird.

Custom wound Aero pickups. The bass was originally made for a Doctor in Houston who sold it onto a shop called Danny D's. I picked it up there and brought it back to the UK in Nov 2006.

That's helpful. Thanks.

Did I buy it from you on eBay? Probably a couple of years ago? It came with a Modulus case.

Loving it! I had a problem with the preamp earlier this year and it had to go back to John East for a service and upgrade. Other than that it's been fab. So easy to play - and I'm a 4 stringer.
