Yes, yes, yes - I feel that love.... all the way from here ;)
The new scratchplate looks good on your P too Discreet
I generally prefer Tort, or a dark plate - but it just sits right with that colour red somehow

Thanks... Dakota Red with a mint guard was a Fender custom colour option in the early 60s.

Love them both, but i REALLY like the worn in maple neck. Looks great.
Do you have a preference out of the two?

not strictly a full limelight, but here is my slab precision build utilising a limelight jazz neck in a medium relic

The maple neck looks really old school :) I like the both. The rosewood is a J neck and I actually prefer those thinner neck! So should I choose one will I take the rosewood because of the feel

The maple board one, no 00125 used to belong to me at one point. It played very nicely when I had it with a really nice low action. Moved it on as I prefer 5s more (after a long battle deciding :P)

I've had my Lynott replica for about 14 months and gigged it every other week in that time but I've just noticed that it's getting considerably more road worn on the forearm chamfer -

[attachment=224288:IMG_5180.jpg]

[attachment=224289:IMG_5178.jpg]

And the reason for this additional wear 'n' tear -

[attachment=224290:IMG_5179.jpg]

I'm not for one minute complaining and it's interesting to see the difference between real wear, noting how much larger the area of worn top layer down to just primer is compared to the original relic'd finish. I'll keep an eye on this over the next few weeks/months and document its progress!

I think you're enjoying the fact this is no longer mine more than you're enjoying the bass! :lol:
Luckily I'm very happy with my Road Worn P... ;)

Paid Mark a deposit yesterday for a 63 P in Fiesta Red. Just waiting patiently now!

I don't think not actually having the bass yet is any excuse not to post a few pics...

New 62 in Fiesta Red just landed. Downsizing collection to one wooden bass only from my XL2, couldn't find a decent 2EQ Ray, and have really enjoyed a Matt Freeman Precision as my 2nd residence bass for past couple,of years following a bad MIM Precision experience years ago. My first relic bass also (wife and son: "it needs a new paint job" - sheesh!). Very impressed so far, nice comfy neck - rolled edges, 40mm B type nut, and sounds great with flats on. I can do anything from Motown (tone off)to 70s/80s punk and indie with a pick. Chuffed.
