skej21
Why are the bridge saddles tilted on most of these? Anyone that says to follow the neck curve needs a slap btw
*please read sarcastically* It's obviously to follow the curve of the neck mate. Otherwise the intonation behind the nut will be out, the frets will wear out and the pickups don't work. Also, why is it all worn out like someone has been playing when it's brand new?! You guys know nothing about basses!! *please read as serous statement* I took the photos when I first received the instrument. I have since had the neck off for minor truss rod tweaks and the bridge saddles are not in that position anymore. Maybe Mark sets them like that as part of his setups? I'm not sure. That's how they were when it arrived but I've changed the strings to flats since and set up the bass as I like it :-)

Especially for people who aren't comfortable doing their own set ups. I've done my own for years so I'm pretty confident that I can get it how I like it. Marks setup wasn't bad but it wasn't how I would have it set for myself so it needed changing but it's harsh if someone then has to pay to have it sorted by someone else to get it playing how they'd like because they aren't happy or confident enough to do it on their own! stingrayPete1977
I can understand setups not being to taste but im surprised a bass builder would put them like that, as long as the bass is good though as you say you can put it right. skej21
It would've gone straight back if it wasn't just an issue of personal taste and easy to fix :-)

martthebass
Heavy relic 63J. Used it on a number of gigs over the last couple of months and it is definitely capable of delivering punch and subtlety as required. I know the relic appearance isn't to everyone's taste but it certainly stops me being precious about dinging it - it would be hard to spot a new one!
The acid came from Walter White in a penguin shaped spaceship maaaan ...actually nothing that exciting, i had a dead car battery and just tipped it up into a bucket and left the ashtray in there. i washed it when finished. I only endorse this method if your mindful of health & safety of course (do not put fingers in the battery acid!!!) - acid is nasty stuff (i ain't stopped twitching since the 90's )
Geek99
Ok thanks I got a similar "clouding" effect from immersing chrome in a mixture of toilet duck, salt and diet coke - suspect the toilet duck was the active ingredient as some cleaner contain weak hydrochloric acid.
