rubis
Now why isn't someone offering aftermarket necks like that ?
BassTractor
Dunno, Rubis. Should be a breeze, I reckon. BTW, here's the back of the neck. It's gonna break, isn't it? It's gonna break! TomDuff
One of the best looking basses I have seen, without doubt.
Sean
Nicest neck I've seen. That is all.
3below
Too good to play, should be displayed as work of (industrial? production?) art. My DB neck has similar flame but nowhere near as deep and contrasting. What a great looking bass.

Urban Bassman
Aye, the Bongos look stellar IMHO. It was a Bongo I wanted, but I felt chanceless as the second window (that I was unaware of) closed last week. What do you mean with "glitzy" in this case (I've already looked it up), and which bass would that be? Your blue one, or maybe the tobacco? For me there's a huge difference between a joyful over-the-topness or some bright colours that don't take themselves too seriously, and pure bling. Hard to explain in a foreign language, but I do like the pink Daisy Rock bass in my avatar - though not because I deem it the summum of good taste in avant garde design.
Oh yes, I was seriously lusting after a Bongo...sadly lacking in funds though before the window closed....hey ho. Perhaps I'll find a previously loved one at some point. Anyway, your 'ray looks fab. Enjoy it! Edited August 25, 2014 by Urban Bassman
Zenitram
For balance, that isn't my cup of tea at all. But I can understand why someone else (or even everyone else) would like it.

BassTractor
Is it a satin finish?
Sorry, I don't know what a satin finish is. But IMS these necks are treated with a mixture of oil and wax. I don't know how finely the necks are sanded, nor how they are roasted. I just stumbled upon it, was stunned, and quickly bought it before anyone else did, and must now find out these things afterwards.
stingrayPete1977
Satin is sort of not glossy, or shiny but not dull or matte either, in the middle, im not sure if that helps or makes it worse.
BassTractor
Thanks, Pete! It helps. I now understand that "satin" just means "satin", and is not one specific guitar neck treatment. We have the word in Dutch in the same meaning as your explanation.

I was gonna write that! Thanks though! Allow me to abuse the situation and add a word of seriousness: I keep repeating that my English is not as good as it may seem. In one way, I have better control over writing (using expressions I'm fairly confident can be used) than over reading (people tend to not use exactly my subset of the English language - - bastards, all of them!), but still have no clue about how some stuff I write comes across, and am often not able to edit so as to sand off the edges, so to speak. I think this is a shared capacity of many who Englisch not as their first language have ( ), and feel we can sometimes come across as overtly modest, overtly insensitive or sensitive, overtly harsh, overtly melodramatic, overtly kind etc., once our English gets somewhat better than the typical learner's level. Rant over. Edited August 27, 2014 by BassTractor
