BassTractor Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 BTW, I just realised that that neck is filled to the rim with 24-tone (and other micro-tone) markings. I'm shaving off the frets! Experimental music, here I come! Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 You have no worries mate, most fifteen year Olds speak in text speak over here now anyway. Quote

TheSiberian Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Stunning is the right word. Does it sounds better than the regular flat one? Quote

[/quote] We may never know. I'm not good enough to be able to compare, and certainly do not "deserve" this bass. My other StingRay is fretless, so comparing them would not give good results. Quote
TheSiberian Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Looking at the classical stringed instruments I saw that the most quoted and expensive ones have the neck made of flamed maple...so I suppose it should be better. And I am not sure that in the classical field the looks is something of very important matter. But I never had the opportunity to check flamed or quilted maple vs flat on twins instruments...I am courious... Maybe some day. Best Quote

BassTractor Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Yup. Roughly that. Or rather... satinly that. I mean: Choose, people! Choose! Not that half-baked nonsense ("onzin") of trying to find something inbetween shiny and matte! Take a stand for once, fer cryin' out loud! [/soapbox] Quote

drTStingray Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 What a fabulous looking bass. I'm waiting for a Classic Sabre to arrive in that spec! The neck is meant to be oil and wax finish with a satin headstock and the body is mahongany. That flame maple is awesome - there's a picture if a Bongo with a similarly flamed neck to that on the EBMM bass forum. Having severe GAS waiting for mine to arrive...... Quote

So there's where I saw that particular Bongo. I couldn't find it again, but you narrowed it down for me. Thanks for mentioning it! Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 The bongo looks epic, I prefer it with a normal neck, if we can call it normal Quote
donkelley Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 that neck and headstock are absolutely gorgeous sir! Quote
