Ant_On_Bass Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Ok so i'm pretty much useless with electronics, and have discovered that I'm buzzing when I'm too close or pointed towards my cab with any of the basses i use? do any of you guys happen to know what would be causing that and also would a power conditioner solve the problem? PlungerModerno Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Are you using single-coil pickups? How close are we talking here? Quote
Ant_On_Bass Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Yeah single coil and in a bit of a crowded practice space so pretty close to be fair., this was it set up earlier. http://s1336.photobucket.com/user/Ant_On_Bass/media/Current%20Rig/2014-08-24115346_zps3d8abb69.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 Quote
HowieBass Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 You might need to think about improving the shielding on your basses but conventional single coils will always suffer a little with induced noise. Make sure you've got well shielded guitar cables as well. Quote
PlungerModerno Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 I'd recommend a noise gate - that way the single coil noise can be clipped when the bass isn't producing sound - if the buzzing is a problem. Like HowieBass said, checking shielding and considering noiseless pickups (vs. traditional single coils) are good to look at. Quote
dincz Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Combo or head and cab? Not very convenient but if it's a head, try putting it on the floor. Quote
Ant_On_Bass Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 Yeah i'ce sucked it up and bought some shielding, think i'll do the control panel cavity and the pickup cavities and see if that improves, if not noise gate and moving my head to floor may have to be another option :-D Quote
