lowhand_mike
yeah that trace does look a bargain, just to give you some iea of volume i play in a 60's70's80's rock cover band with 2 guitarists both running about 120watts and a pretty loud drummer adn i'm using the mag 210 combo, (worth a look i might add) and even without the extension cab so it's running around 200watts it's plenty loud enough even without going through the PA i a fairly large hall. i'm only geussing but i would imagine 300watts to be kinda the range you need to look at as 200 is enough for me and you are saying you're lot aint too loud. but like everyone else has said go and try them, you won't get to test the loudness in a band situation in the shop but if you like the sound and it's got the head room you should be fine. Muppet
I also agree with that Trace Combo. It would be worth heading up to Dundee for that!
smurfitt
Well guys I took your advice about buying used and trying out! Today I am the proud owner of a Hartke HA3000 head and VX410 cab! It's loud enough, without pushing it above level 4 volume and not too big to rely on others to transport until i get a vehicle. Thanks for all the help. steve-soar
T.O.B.E.M. should have bought the Trace. How much did you pay for the Hartke gear?

If you note another of my posts you will see that I said we are not a heavy or loud band and guitarists don't go above level 3 on the master volume. It's not like we're playing at Wembley; just pubs and small clubs. Played last week and cut through fine at just under halfway mark on my master volume. Vasquez Rich
Find yourself a second hand Hartle 410XL cab and a 3500 head, and you are well sorted mate.
Second that... would not have opted for the Hartle VX series in the face of the XL but you pays yer money and you takes yer choice. Never had to run my HA3500 further than 5 no matter where I been playing. Very decent and capable amps IMHO. Richard

I have my tube side set to 7 o'clock and the solid state side of the preamp set to 3 o'clock, does the job nicely.
thedontcarebear
I'd probably get the Line 6 Lowdown LD300, and you get the free footswitch at the moment too, for £350.
