Bow technique? Tilting.

I have been trying to use my bow more often, im getting a bit of a feel for the tension and rosin application and Jake has got me holding a french bow quite well in a very short amount of time we spent on it ages ago. I see lots of players tilting the bow over for up and down strokes, is this good, bad, pointless or spot on? If so which way should I tilt?
