Thunderpaws Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Was browsing YouTube a few minutes ago, searching for demos of old Pbasses and stumbled across Bobby Vega. I had heard his name before (I think) but know nothing about him. What I picked up from a couple of demo videos is that I really like his groove and even more so that he didn't come across super flashy or super fast ...just GROOVY. Just watching those two videos has made me want to practice more, especially with a pick. Also, who can recommend some listening for the best of his playing? Quote
PlungerModerno Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 This was my first intro to Mr. Vega's repertoire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpnIl2WpR1U He's one groovy chap. Quote
TKenrick Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 He's one of my favourite players, amazing sense of groove and one of the few guys who can really play funk with a pick. It's a shame he doesn't get more exposure, although I think he's at the Warwick bass camp this week. Bobby plays on this: http://youtu.be/VnU2DN9Y0hY He also played in Tower of Power for a while when Rocco was getting a new liver. Quote
toneknob Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 BV played with Tower Of Power when Rocco Prestia fell ill. Straight in to the gig with no rehearsals after the initial audition, according to his recent column in Bass Player magazine. Quote
