SisterAbdullahX
Hi all, Just started sourcing parts for a Precision/Jazz build and wondered if anyone has any experience/opinions in Mighty Mite necks. Could get an unfinished maple Jazz neck and Ash Precision body from Musicians Friend for the same price as an unfinished Allparts neck! Was originally leaning towards Allparts as they look more authentic with the truss rod adjustment at the heel, but if I can keep costs down that leaves me more to spend on other bits. Plus, I should be fairly confident of the Mighty Mite neck and body going together without any fettling. I've heard that the MM necks will need a bit of work done to the frets, but was gonna get a set up done on completion anyway. Thanks for any advice! Paul S
I have a 90s MIJ Fender Precison with a MM maple Jazz neck. It is absolutely lovely, with no issues whatsoever. Straight into the pocket, good fit, no need to shim or do anything excessive on the bridge, even.
SisterAbdullahX
Great! You'll do for me, Paul. I think I'll get my order in! Cheers!
Bassman Steve
Yup, I've had two and both have been excellent as Paul says.
GregBass
My bitsa Jazz has an unfinished Mighty Mite neck, and it plays like a dream. Great value for money.
Billy Apple
I had a MM P neck. Good price, good quality. Maybe the fretboard was a little thin, but the rest was spot on. No frettage issues. There's a chap on ebay punts them out. Bluebass, I think.
GregBass
Another shout out for Bluesbass. He supplied my MM neck and will fit a logo decal of your choice for you too.

SisterAbdullahX
Bluebass seems to have disappeared from eBay, unfortunately.
SisterAbdullahX
I meant to mention in OP, how slim are they? One thing that puts me off the Allparts neck is reports of it being quite chunky, which was something I discovered with a Warmoth neck I owned. I'm looking for the same slim dimentions as on my CIJ Jazz.
Paul S
Mine is sat 2 ft away, a ruler 1ft away - 38mm at the nut, 20mm deep at the first fret position. Not as skinny as the skinniest Jazz style necks such as a Geddy Lee, Jaguar or my Precision Lyte (which is 18mm deep at the first fret), but more like a 'regular' Jazz. Whatever that is. SisterAbdullahX
Great! My CIJ Jazz is 20mm at the first fret! Cheers again, Paul. Order prepped, just waiting for my ppi claim cheque to clear this week then order will be in! £220 for neck and MM ash Precision body, including delivery, vat and taxes, from Musician's Friend! Cheers again, people!
davehux
Bluebass is still around http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=331285054567 Got a MM P neck off him a couple of months ago. The tint is really nice and just the right amount of colour to look 'aged'. Fender logo looks great and well lacquered. It's inbetween a Jazz and P neck for width at the nut, which is what I wanted Would recommend 100% Edited September 8, 2014 by davehux
martthebass
I think my MM P bass maple neck with maple FB came from Bluesbass. Tint was a little bit on the yellow side but the profile was great, more comfortable than most P basses I've played and not at all chunky. thisnameistaken
I've got a Jazz with a Mighty Mite body, Moses neck. The body routings were mega tight, had to sand the neck pocket quite a bit to get the neck in, and even had to sand the pickup cavities a bit to get the Fender N3s in. Still, I'd rather have that than the opposite, and it's a lovely body, finish (oly white) is great too.
