Guest MoJo
I bought a set of Stadium Elites today (which I'm offering up for half price later) and for me, they're just too bright out of the box. I'm looking for a string that sounds like a well played in roundwound. I've got Chrome flats on my other bass, which I love, but they lack the overtones of a roundwound. Any suggestions? ambient
Nickels are quite a bit warmer than stainless steels. I use D'Addario EXL's.
ikay
I find DR Sunbeams a littte warmer than most. The round core also gives them a softer feel which I think helps.

Coilte
Or TI Jazz rounds.
+1. They have VERY LOW tension though. This can put people off them.

miles'tone
Dunlop nickels totally. They are really great strings that are made to have no break in period. Very stable out of the box and mellow nicely. Last for ages.
