slumjacket Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Love the first two albums, but haven't listened to them for ages. Don't know if I'll be much use when out comes to the advice though. Quote

Marc S Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I really like them. The first 2 albums were great Still play them from time to time - great chillout tracks on both those albums Not sure I've got much by way of advice ... except - play the albums once in a while.... Marc PS> Just wondering what the advice is that you need now? Quote
fumps Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 A massive fan here. I hget a huge kick from playing "Have seen" from simple things. Quote
brensabre79 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Used to listen a lot, are they still going? you should check out fragile state if you like them. Z7s keyboard player was 1/2 of fragile state. Quote
mxm Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Good stuff - plus they had Eddie Stevens (Moloko) on keys - awesome ! Quote
cameltoe Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Yup I like them. They haven't been up to much recently though have they? Quote
There last album "Yeh Ghost" (2009) was a little darker & more experimental and I dont think this sold as well as their other three. Shame really as I love their work with Sia as vocalist. I love that ladies voice Quote
xgsjx Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I used to listen to them a lot on Mixcloud. Gonna have to see what's on Deezer of theirs. Quote
Qlank Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Love the first album. I got a bootleg show a couple years ago and they played newer stuff tidy but when it came to older tunes they seemed to be taking the piss, messing with the arrangements and playing lots of off key notes and phrases. Maybe they were just entertaining themselves for giggles but I would have been really disappointed if I was at that gig. Can't believe I never saw them live early on though. Quote
So whats new about that? I've been using that style for the last 30 years.....lol I like them. Chilled & laid back with many a good bass line to work out Quote

Didn't overly like The Garden I'll be honest- the Jose Gonzales remix was the best song on it for me. Quote
Tullfan Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Yeah really big fan, love them, Simple things, When it falls, The Garden, always on my mp3. Would love to see them live. (see their facebook page and listen to the new releases.) Quote
garyod7 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) First two albums were fantastic, less so with The Garden I thought and onwards. Their early material and Air's better stuff is brilliant, love the chill out sound, very cool basslines too! Saw them in Glasgow after When it falls came out I think, superb Edited September 13, 2014 by garyod7 Quote
Marc S Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014
....Didn't overly like The Garden I'll be honest- the Jose Gonzales remix was the best song on it for me.
My own thoughts exactly In fact, I liked the other 2 albums so much - I listened to the Garden quite a bit because I wanted to like it..... (if that makes sense! lol) But never grew to like it really.... Also got an album of remixes, called "AnotherLateNight" - but not so much into that either.... So I didn't venture to getting "Yeah Ghost" Still love "When It Falls" and "Simple Things" though Following this thread, I listened to Simple Things again recently What a great album Quote
drTStingray Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Yeh big fan of them and especially the first two albums. Absolutely the classic chill out music. Interesting that on the second album there is a different bass player on a handful of tracks - they sound quite different to me, lacking that light and airy bass part feel of the other guy - but perhaps with more of a groove. The first two for me are classic albums of that era and genre. Quote
cameltoe Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 When it falls will always be my favourite. I think Simple Things probably has the better singles, but When It Falls is a joy from start to finish. Quote
cameltoe Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 What happened to the OP? I thought there was a question coming! Quote
Lenny B Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Rob's played a lot with them - great player robinmullarkey.com Quote
bass master Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Love their work. Their new EP "Simple Science" just came out last month. Quote
