cameltoe
I'm in the market for a replacement neck so saw this- Doesn't look legit to me- but then I'm no expert! Looks like a Squier logo'd job- can anyone confirm? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261587782387?
ash
It's probably fake - the truss rod access looks wrong to me.
itsmedunc
I cant tell properly but the trussrod may adjust from the headstock? Not on a USA I dont think? A better picture of the neck plate would be good too, the ones sold on ebay are a bit rough. His feedback shows he buys a lot of stuff from China and Hong Kong too... cameltoe
What recent US model would have had that type of logo? And where should the serial number be located? Just so I know
itsmedunc
I think the models with the patent on the headstock were something like 68-76. I can't ever remember seeing a more recent model with the same style decal? They were patents pending. I think the serial should be on the back of the headstock. I would be asking for some more pics especially of the truss rod access, the butt and the back of the head. It doesn't look right to me though... itsmedunc
I've seen a few fakes with the same logo. Lots of people put a custom shop logo on the back of the head as we'll. I think many waterslide sets come with both.
zero9
The dot inlays are the wrong size (too small) for a start. Definitely fake, but real wood.
spacey
Thought they were plugged and rodded the other way around until 1980
with that logo, serial number would be on the neck plate. The serial number went to the headstock when they started with 76 or S7/8. Truss rod would adjust from the body too and there would be a plug in the headstock Edited September 10, 2014 by police squad

So, nothing on the back of the head but surely there should be a date of some sort on the butt?
Roger2611
I have already messaged the seller to tell him it is not a genuine neck, he came back to me saying he would remove the listing, then put it back up as a USA neck again...negative feedback just waiting to happen if someone buys it
cameltoe
Thanks guys, I had a feeling it wasn't legit, good job we have knowledgable folks around here!
the boy
Is it a cowpoke. The decal still looks a little suspect but the headstock is very much like cowpoke to me.
gjones
I saw this and instantly thought it looked like a cheap Chinese neck with a fake decal. Truss rod access is incorrect for USA Fender.
Shonks
the string tree is always placed between the 'F' & 'd' in the logo too BTW
itsmedunc
Just had an email from Fender chap called Paul Levesque. He says they have no control over items for sale on eBay? Reported an item to them before and it was removed. Must have been a coincidence... Edited September 15, 2014 by itsmedunc
hubrad
Just had an email from Fender chap called Paul Levesque. He says they have no control over items for sale on eBay? Reported an item to them before and it was removed. Must have been a coincidence...
A couple of items for sale in the shop were also listed on Ebay, then removed with a notice to contact Fender if we wanted more info. I emailed them, and fair enough 'Strat' (as in used Strat-type electric guitar) is their own word, but 'replacement neck to fit Fender and similar instruments? Japanese ones which are probably actually higher quality the F-word ones so they're jealous! I think they've been talking to Rick..
