Can anyone recommend a reliable service to send a bass from Germany to UK?

The seller I'm speaking to is getting prices of over €400!! From dhl, deutsche post won't do it as its over 120 cm when cased.

I've had basses previously from there that cost £50-60 insured.

Thanks in advance

Hmm. I have just had a bass sent to me, via DHL and insured for 3000 Euro, and it costs under 70 Euros. I couldn't comment on the length of the parcel, but weight was 22KG. I was also offered another courier (don't know name im afraid) which cost 25 Euros but was only insured to 700 euros.

The seller either isn't looking hard enough or is trying it on it would seem.

€400 sounds like some form of International Hasty Super Express delivery.
I recently paid €220 to have a bass package from the USA in their custody as few days as possible. It was the most expensive alternative available, whilst the cheapest was half that (which still was some form of signed for International Express with insurance). My expensive choice should take two or three days, but did take nine or ten days, so was totally not worth it.

He or she who sends must work a little harder to find the rates for more standard shipping, I'd guess.
The choice of transporter seems to need to differ per country also if you look at their quality. Some that are seen as terrible in the UK have been stellar in Norway for example.
