Funky Dunky
Does anyone here own one, or have you used one? I had recently enquired on this very forum about portable amps for bass and then I found out about the Amplug, seems brilliant but I would imagine it sounds awful. Very very inexpensive too imo, but on paper an ideal practice tool.

I had recently enquired on this very forum about portable amps for bass and then I found out about the Amplug, seems brilliant but I would imagine it sounds awful. Very very inexpensive too imo, but on paper an ideal practice tool. [/quote] I have one (a guitar version, but I use it for bass, too...). It doesn't sound 'awful' at all; in fact quite the opposite. I'm not a fan of the 'Vox sound' in general for guitar, but for practising bass, it's very effective. Obviously not for 'finding one's tone', but for work-outs, playing along or just noodling, it holds its own very well. Robust (mine has been quite mistreated, but still works faultlessly...), economic (I use rechargeable batteries; they last for ages...). I recommend, with no reservations. timmo
I have the Bass Amplug. It sounds good. It has a volume, gain, and tone dials, plus an input for your cd player or phone to jam along to your backing tracks. I would recommend it. I use mine a lot at work, and in the garden for the nicer weather. It also has a distortion fx button for a different sound, but never really use

yorks5stringer
Just be aware they have just released amplug 2 which has some built in rhythms so some Dealers with cheaper ones may actually be the old earlier stock...

sbrag
I use mine regulally for home headphone practice. Its great but can overdive easily especially with an active bass.
