TheGreek Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 An impulse buy from ebay a few months ago with a cheeky bid which I didn't expect to win. There were a couple of other BCers bidding on it and even though I offered to sell it to them when I (unbelievably) won it I still have it. Arrived without a case but I can include a hardcase in the price if required. I had an email from Chris giving the history which must have deleted cos I can't find it. Apparently built for a guitar show in London in the 80s this was one of about 200 which they made . I'm told the sold for about £800 back in the 80s. I can't real say what t's like to play as I've only played it for about 30 minutes in total and I can't get on with the 45 gauge strings and because haven't played it I haven't bothered to change them. Weighs between 8-9LBs. greyparrot Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Hi mate where are you based ? And what's the condition ? Thanks.
TheGreek Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 I'm in Hatfield, Herts. The bass is in good condition considering it's 30+ years old, everything in good working order.
TheGreek Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Many would have loved to have bought this bass for this price bass in it's day bump
barkin Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Indeed, and I'd probably have had a quick squirt down the A1 myself - had I not just blown my spare cash on a BB...
Thunderbird Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I dont know why as this is not my thing as a rule but I really like it one question though are the machine heads bent or is it a trick of the camera?
TheGreek Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) I can see what you mean so I've just checked..no damage to the heads... Trades and P/Xes considered...bump Edited September 22, 2014 by TheGreek

solo4652 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Just wondering about neck dive - that top horn looks quite short...
TheGreek Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Though I haven't played this a lot I don't think it's an issue...
TheGreek Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 I thought this was a bit of a bargain...reluctant to reduce the price...sorry.
TheGreek Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 There's been interest but nobody actually parting with cash...
Matte_black Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Just curious... what kind of pickup is that? How's the neck attached to the body? Glued in or bolt-on?
TheGreek Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 It's a Set Neck same as lots of Gibsons - I believe it's glued as there are no screws, etc.
hubrad Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 The photos are just not clear enough. . That pickup looks at this distance like a Select by EMG.
Matte_black Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Is the Select line from EMG as old as the bass? I don't think so... anyway, it's a great deal!
Thunderbird Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 They probably are the original pups the selects came about in the early 80s and maybe over water got them first as testers for this bass I think there the original pups
Kevin Dean Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) I had one of the early Overwater basses & they had Bill lawrence pick ups Edited October 11, 2014 by Kevin Dean
TheGreek Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 From nut to saddles = 82cm (can't find an imperial tape measure) - 32/33"??
TheGreek Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 At £300 I thought that this would have flown away - after all you're not going to see an Overwater for £300 everyday...still available..
