gelfin Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) I use one of these. Works fine for me. http://www.musicians...e-headphone-amp And if you had been able to make it to the bash you could have tried it out. geoffbyrne Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I have a Digitech Genesis 1 (I have 2 actually, plus a Genesis 3). Headphone out of laptop into 'Line In' on Genesis. Plug headphones into Genesis. Plug bass into Genesis - set up amp/cab/tone. Play track on laptop & play along. Genesis 1 is not terribly expensive on Ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digitech-Genesis-1-Guitar-Signal-Processor-/131276398492?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Outboards_Effects_MJ&hash=item1e90aedf9c http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digitech-Genesis-3-GNX-series-Guitar-effects-/231317087234?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Outboards_Effects_MJ&hash=item35db92a402 The Genesis 1 is pretty straightforward, but the Genesis 3 (no idea what happened to Genesis 2) is a much more complex beast, being, in effect, a programmable Digitech GNX-1 Multi-FX in a manual box. We also use 2 xGen1 & a Gen3 plus electronic drums into a small mixer, with a line-in from the PC then a small Berhinger 4-output headphone unit. This allows up to 4 of us to jam silently. G. Quote

Pukie Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Following a recent thread on here about using an ipad as a pre amp , (sorry I can't find the thread otherwise I'd post a link to it - but the thread contained link to this website http://www.tayste.co.uk/2014/02/24/the-ios-bassist-pt1-an-introduction which contains all the info you could need ) ..... I have been using iRig + the Jamup XT app + the two bass expansion packs into headphones/Asda computer speakers! Loads of amps and effects to play with, you can jam along to stuff in your itunes library, and record as well really excellent fun . Quote
