FinnDave Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I've been offered a dep gig in Oxford on the 24th of this month but can't do it. Fairly standard blues/60s pop pub fare. £35.00. Band is based in West London. If anyone is interested, contact me here or by PM and I'll pass on the details. Quote
mrtcat Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 That's a long way for a band to travel for a covers gig that looks like fairly low pay. If they have to cancel the gig I could get a local band together for it. Quote
FinnDave Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 It's only about an hour from West London to Oxford, but I don't think they are planning to cancel. I was a bit surprised at the rate of pay as well, but might be fun for someone local who fancies something that evening. Quote
JTUK Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Confused... how do they determine £35...? is that £35 per man... per how many in the band.? That is £140 for a 4 piece...? Yep..best local. I have to travel to Oxford this weekend and am NOT looking forward to the gig. Enstone... wherever that is..?? Quote

[/quote] Where are you playing in Enstone? It's well outside of Oxford but a nice albeit small place. Heythrop Park? That's a decent venue. Quote
JTUK Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Flying club... not sure if it is a marquee or not. waiting for details. It's a party so a payer... altho not enough to travel that far, IMO but the people are well connected { horsey set ) so ..??? Quote
FinnDave Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 That'll be Enstone Aerodrome, then. No idea where the £35 comes from, that's what I was told when I asked how much. I am just passing the info in in case anyone is interested, I am not able to do it myself. Quote
JTUK Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 yep..sounds like it. I can get to Oxford in about 90 mins in traffic good but it is the faff north that rankles ?? Was thinking a cut across from M40 might work but the roads seem small... Quote
FinnDave Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Take the A44 off the Oxford bypass, through Woodstock heading for Chipping Norton, Enstone is on the right a few miles before CN. I was over in that general direction an hour ago and often go past the aerodrome coming back from Banbury on my bike. Quote
JTUK Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Ok...got that, so past Blenheim then. Same route as last year when we worked with their friends a bit further north. Many thanks. Hope you get the gig sorted. Quote
FinnDave Posted September 11, 2014 Author Posted September 11, 2014 Yes, past Blenheim, but be warned, there is a big horsey event there this weekend. Quote
JTUK Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 F************************* we got caught out with that last year.... Thanks for the heads-up.. Quote
