Replacement Jack Port

Any recommendations on replacing the stock jack port on a fender precision? Mines getting a little intermittent and I'm gigging more and more often.

I'd simply buy a Switchcraft socket, and pop it in.

Actually I've gone over to stereo jacks in my P basses.

Even though I always loop the cable back through the strap, I think the extra contact helps support the plug.

They take another few seconds to solder up, but make for a very satisfying ker-chunk when you plug in

but if its just intermittent for a quick fix just squeeze the contacts in a bit and reflow the joints with a soldering iron

Change it to a locking XLR socket, wont pull out, contacts stay good.
