MarkG3 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Hello everyone got a bit of a question that I would like people's input on. Since getting my dream bass the Gibson G3, my Fender Highway One P has been barely played. I've tried playing it but it just doesn't feel and sound as good to me as the G3 so I don't play on it for long and always end up back on the G3. What would you do? Keep it but all it would be doing is collecting dust Sell it Really not sure what to do so would appreciate some opinions! Thanks Quote
paul_5 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Seriously though, it sounds like you've moved on or outgrown the Fender... Quote
JTUK Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Sell... it is a working tool, that isn't..er...working. Put the money by and ad a bit to it for when you get GAS for something else Quote
gary mac Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 If it's not a collectible one and it's also not getting played, think I would be moving it on. Quote
jezzaboy Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Sell it. You will get around £400 odd for it and use the cash for something you want/need. Then realise a year down the line, you really miss the P bass sound and get another one! Quote
inthedoghouse Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Yep, I'm with everybody else on this one. If the love isn't there any more, move her on to someone else who will play her. I know it's hard to let go sometimes but you'll prob be glad of the money to put towards another GAS object of desire sometime. I just sold a couple of amps that I didn't use but wanted to keep for nostalgia and 'just in case' but I'm so pleased with the Warwick Stryker that they helped fund which arrived today (thanks to a BassChatter) Quote
MarkG3 Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Thanks everyone, that's what I thought I would end up doing anyway. I'll get it up for sale then when I can! Quote
Bigwan Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 String it with flats. Learn some Jamerson... Quote
MacDaddy Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Are you gigging? It's always worth having a backup bass, but if the Fender has lost its magic sell it and get the Epiphone equivalent of your Gibson? Quote
If only that were possible - there is no Epiphone equivalent and never has been. They did a PJ wearing bolt on necked "Ripper" a few years back which is as close as it came. Same body shape and construction being the only similarities with a G-3. Quote

I'm sure the older epiphone version was/is better Quote
