RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Not a steinberger IMHO . Looks like a custom build. Doubt if it's worth as much as he says. Over to others on here, and see what they think ... Quote
The Admiral Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Guts of a Steinberger transferred to a custom body? It could of course be a prototype and wiser heads will probably arrive shortly to advise! Quote
HowieBass Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I thought all Steinbergers were graphite/composite necked? The body shape isn't particularly attractive IMHO. Quote
ambient Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Use google images it shows loads of photos of steinberger basses, none like that though. Quote
Geek99 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) Transplant IMHo Any "patent pending" or patent number plaques or marks ? Edited September 13, 2014 by Geek99 Quote
Stance Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Thanks you all! I´ve checked the bass, and though it´s very well made, I couldn´t see any serial number or marking that made me think I was looking to a legit Steinberger. Have a nice weekend Alex Quote
Evil Undead Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) Nice bass, but I'd pass. I doubt it's worth £900, but even if it was, you'd have a hard time selling it. Tell him you want the cash he owes you, not goods to the (possible) value of... EDIT: spelling. Edited September 13, 2014 by Evil Undead Quote
BassTractor Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 C'mon guys! OF COURSE there's a name or a logo on the headst... Oh. Quote
Dad3353 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014
C'mon guys! OF COURSE there's a name or a logo on the headst... Oh.
Wasn't there an ad for a bass-less headstock a short while ago..? Maybe match 'em up..? Quote
Bassassin Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 This bass has Steinberger-licensed hardware, the same as used on Hohner B2, B2A & Jack basses. These were manufactured by Cort, who also used the same hardware on their own-brand basses. It seems most likely that this is either a custom build using Cort hardware, or was manufactured by Cort themselves. The guy's probably claiming it's a Steinberger because the hardware will have "Licensed By Steinberger" on it! It's a pretty cool-looking bass, but £200-£300, not £900. Jon. Quote
paulbass Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Thats nevver worth £900 notes....it hasnt even got a head! Quote
Geek99 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Yep - no tuning pegs so you'll have to fiddle with the neck to get it in tune Quote
UglyDog Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 If he reckons it's worth 900 sheets, tell him to list it on fleabay for that much and see if it sells. It won't Quote
steve-bbb Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 cash out >>> >>> cash in and tell him it's fugly hope this helps Quote
PlungerModerno Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Tell them it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If you want you can make them an offer. £900 is a big claim - needs big evidence, e.g. evidence of plenty of comparable sales on or about that price. Without evidence to that effect . . . £100? £200??? Quote
Stance Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 Guys, thanks for all your input! After some persuasion I got the money, and he kept his fugly bass! Quote
Roland Rock Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014
Guys, thanks for all your input! Stance Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 yeah , right! I´ve showed him some of these emails - it surely brought him back to planet Earth! Quote
