silverfoxnik Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Very nice looking bass! I have a Blade B-15 and absolutely love it, especially for it's authentic jazz tones and slim neck profile, which isn't always the case on 5 string Jazz basses.. So I'm guessing this will be the same but with even more tonal variation, which is no bad thing. GLWTS
bass-a-licious Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 Thanks silverfoxnik, I fully agree with you. With the preamp's Bass and Treble boost this bass really can get a full round sound or the typical Miller slaptone. That 70's pickups spacing really helps to bring out the bark from the bridge pickup. I hope this bass will find a new loving (and playing) owner soon
elbasisten Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Hi Mail me to /Micael
chuck_stones Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Wow. Never seen a blade bass before but my guitarist has a couple of blade guitars he plays and their tone is amazing. The built quality is also pretty amazing ; I guess the basses follow suite? Good luck with the sale, that is a stunning looking bass!
bass-a-licious Posted September 21, 2014 Author Posted September 21, 2014 Yes, the build quality is A++ on these basses. It is my first light weight bass that feels solid in your hands, plays easy and sounds great. Quite underrated basses.
chuck_stones Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 I'd wager that most people have never heard of Blade before (though probably have heard of founder Gary Levinson), but they're mighty fine instruments!
bass-a-licious Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Yes, they are fine instruments. Blade basses were quite popular in the nineties, somehow the focus shifted towards the Blade guitars.
bass-a-licious Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Partial trades like - 4 string bass body and neck (Fender, Allparts) - Hipshot ultralight tuners (5x) - ...
Pestie Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 How much does it weigh please? Thanks Mike(Pestie)
bass-a-licious Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Hi Mike, on bathroom scale it weighs 4.1 kg.
slapierro Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 is it dust at the middle of the bass or between pickups ? ,i think that just some reflected light
JamesTun Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Am I right in thinking that Yolanda Charles plays these? The make Blade, rather than the model.

There is a thin layer of dust under the strings and on the pups. This bass doesn't get played much anymore.
bass-a-licious Posted September 27, 2014 Author Posted September 27, 2014
Am I right in thinking that Yolanda Charles plays these? The make Blade, rather than the model.
Yolanda used to play an old Blade 4 string for many years. The weight of that particular bass gave her some discomfort during gigs, so she contacted Levinson about reducing the weight. She ended up with 2 new Blade basses, a four and five string in midnight blue finish, that Gary sent her to test. There are many pictures and videos of Yolanda playing her Blade basses. They really seem to fit her style.
Kiwi Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 For anyone who doesn't need a jazz bass tone THAT often, this would be ideal...
bass-a-licious Posted September 27, 2014 Author Posted September 27, 2014 Well, the preamp can take you beyond the traditional jazz tone. I can get a nice warm and thick precision like sound, Miller slaptone or a modern full sound.
slapierro Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 thanks, bass-e-licious, i'm feeling very interessed

BassAgent Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 These are great basses... I have a B2 (the 4 string version of this) and although it doesn't get much play time I'm amazed by the quality and playability every time I pick it up. I think Blades are quite unknown because they're not available in the USA (at least they used to, don't know about now). I'd prefer this over a Fender USA Deluxe any day.
