You've got several ways to play bass. Main one is to play in a band and do the job as every musicians would do !

But I consider bass guitar as a solo instrument too and the way Manring plays certains pieces of music ... It's just : Wowww
... Maybe too much tapping sometimes, I really prefer listening to him when he plays "old schools technics" as finger style, harmonics,
bendings, ...

Nope, not for me - I'll acknowledge the skill it takes to do it, but I wasn't sure if or when he'd started. Guitar shop/bedroom noodling isn't something which sounds good to me...

I'm definately in the "great skills man, but that's not what a bass is for" camp

I can admire it, but don't want to lie back chill and listen to it

Not for me, just another guitar solo. I like this version though :)

Another in the "great skills, not entertained for long" camp.
FWIW this is the way I like bass to sound, though you don't hear it on it's own until about 1.50 - but that's mostly how I prefer it too.
I liked it so much I had a custom copy of that bass made, complete with on-board overdrive. :D
