Freddy Le Cragg Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 New Dirt Cheap Guitar Day Yesterday I bought a Hohner Rockwood LX90 from a charity shop for the princely sum of £16. The finish is very deep and thick. Three piece solid body, Nicely aged-looking pickguard. According to teh webbernet, these were your cheapo stratolikes from the mid-nineties. The neck is smooth and silky and the pups sound pretty authentic - very bright and sparkly that soak up dirt like a Dyson. Worth it. The only thing I don't like is the shape of the stock.
Bassnut62 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Nice buy. I think it looks cool and we can't see the headstock, so no worries there either! prince has been playing a Hohner Tele for years that sounds great...at least in his hands
MoonBassAlpha Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 unusual colour too. I'm sure you could trim the headstock if it bothered you that much, you aint exactly going to ruin the resale value!
Freddy Le Cragg Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 I have a Squier Strat neck, also all maple, that i want to put on it, but it needs about 2mm taking off it to fit, something I am not confident in doing. I will get my mate to do it at some point
randythoades Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I love a bargain me! Good score I had one of these in black when I first started playing. Good little guitars. Why don't you just use a dremel or router and widen the neck pocket to fit Squier neck? if you want to re-install the original neck in the future you can just use a small balsa wood shim on each side.
