I was advised to try a short scale bass, as i have finger issues that don`t allow me to stretch my fingers as far as a i would like. Obviously it is hard enough finding a local shop with a standard left hand, without needing specific requirements. Would anyone know of a cheap , half decent one that isn`t one of those violin shaped ones please? They don`t seem to come up very often second hand

Thanks for the replies. I saw the Harley Benton ones, but thought they may be very cheap for a reason. I was looking at £200 maximum, and thought this one might fit the bill

If the Harley Benton would be ok, I may get that instead, and if i liked short scale, get something a lot better. Given me something to think about.

I was just about to start this very thread myself! Im after a short scale leftie - theres four bassists in our band and I want a short scale with ultra thin strings for a more toppy end.
Do Fender do a left handed jaguar does anyone know? I cant seem to find one.
I notice Timmo that your link doesn't post to the UK, any UK stockists that you lot know of?
That is the problem, i saw the price in sterling, and just assumed that they were available here. I haven`t found any available in the UK. As far as i am aware, there is no left handed Jaguars made.
There seems a very limited choice of left handed short scales .

4 bassists? Envy.Problem with your plan is that short scales tend to have less treble.

Check out Eastwood Guitars. http://www.eastwoodguitars.com/

They have a number of LH short-scale basses.

I don't know anything about their quality but if you dig the vintage looks, they sure look nice.

Yep, it is - hadn't spotted Filthy Dirty on here before!

As for short-scale basses, there's a new kid on the (short-scale) block - lefties will be available to order apparently...

What did you get in the end, Timmo? My recent health issues have led me to think I might be better off with a smaller bass.
I never bothered in the end. I really wanted one of those Ibanez Mikro`s, but can`t find one. I have perservered with standard scale, but will get a mikro if i ever find one

If the price is right I fancy getting one of these beauties. Actually I just realised that the short scale version of this bass only comes right-handed. Pity.

Picked up this today. Small-bodied, short-scale Ibanez Mikro. Here it is next to a Fender Jazz. Have had a quick play on it and the bottom end is good. Don't know what strings it has come with. Maybe someone will know what Ibanez ship their basses out with.

To go back to my question does anyone know of any left hooker jaguars or similar? Great bodies.
