leemarseillebass
Morning! I've a Pitchblack, M87 compressor and a Fullbore, they're linked mains wise by an adjoining mains lead initially fed from the tuner. I've had no trouble at all but I am aware I need a mains brick, my question is these relatively cheap ones ie £20-40 I've seen on eBay/Maplin etc - are they worthwhile changing to or is it only worthwhile with a 'proper' one? Cheers
thefyst
for 3 pedals why do you feel that you need a mains brick? the only reason you would get something like that is to stop hum caused by all the pedals sharing a common ground through the power supply and if your not experiencing a problem i would save your money im pretty sure the cheap ones are just one transformer with the outputs daisy chained together in the box anyway. might be wrong tho Ive never looked inside one. although after a quick look on thomann you can get this one with isolated grounds which should stop any ground loop humming http://www.thomann.d...lant_junior.htm ...so if it is what it says it is, then this is as you say a "proper" one. ....sorry i tend to ramble ...this explains it better http://www.geofex.co...yder/spyder.htm Edited September 23, 2014 by thefyst
dannybuoy
That Harley Benton looks like a pretty good deal! I run loads of pedals off of a standard daisy chain and don't get any issues with noise unless I add a digital pedal (EHX B9, Zoom Multi, etc). Typically if I put a digital pedal on the daisy chain then it adds a lot of noise to the signal so I end up running it with a dedicated power supply - and digital pedals sometimes use more than the 120mA max output that Harley Benton provides. For those pedals though you'll have no problem with a standard power supply, e.g. a Diago MicroPower, or OneSpot, or one of these. bertbass
I use one of these, http://www.diago.co.uk/pedal-power/diago-powerstation.html and it's great.
leemarseillebass
Ah I should have said - I've had no problems playing live with what I had, the older guitarist who was a bit obsessive with too many pedals stated its what I should do but as I say, I've had no issues to begin with plus I don't need or want anything else! I'll have a look now at the links you nice chaps have sent me though Thank you mateys, Lee.
