ChunkyMunky
I'm compiling a showreel for a company overseas to do a hotel gig. I'm looking to do about 4 tracks with just me and a drummer and I'm trying to think how to best display my abilities. I thought about splitting the videos like this; - Playing way behind the beat ('Master Blaster' seems to be the choice one for me). - Playing dead centre on the beat ('Billie Jean'? 'We Are Family'?). - Playing ahead of the beat (something Latin-Pop, Jamiroquai etc...). - Something modern and comes from the dance vein of things ('Rather Be'?). What would you guys suggest for this? I'm open to suggestions on this on. I'm only able to get 4 tracks in because of the financial side of things. The setlist for the most part is usually a mix of classics and modern stuff, so please feel free to suggest away. Thanks for reading! JapanAxe
If you are palying way behind the drummer, how will they know it's not the drummer playing ahead of you? Etc...
gadgie
We normally have the drummer at the back of the stage, so never tried playing behind him.
Lozz196
Without being pessimistic or derogatory to them, will non-musicians "get" styles that aren`t right on the beat? Especially with no other instruments going, they may just think it`s poor playing. I`d go for centre of beat.
